Updates 2009-10-18
A bunch of stuff in this update! While it's a lot of internals for some upcoming things, there are a few immediately noticeable things. I'm excited about this update, I've known about it for a while now and I am very pleased that all these new scripting features are in game. They are very powerful and will let us do a lot of things that have never been done before on RO. Details follow.

Premium Event: MVP -2-
An improvement over the original MVP event, the MVP -2- event enhances nearly every aspect of the MVP event. The basics are still the same, one MVP after another. The number of MVPs has been increased in the improved version, from 10+1 to 15+1. In addition the MVP pool has been increased! There are now many more MVPs that can be chosen. The end boss pool has also increased.

So what's the difference besides the number and types of MVPs? First thing you'd notice is a new, custom, map for the event! Also, the MVP is now locally announced. No more "Who MVPed?!" after one dies. The dialog has also been randomized a little, though it's still repetitive. Probably the most awesome change is the new recovery feature. This feature gives the event a more GM hosted feel. Every second your HP and SP will be restored to 100%, if you are dead you will be revived. This will reduce the amount of people needed to kill an MVP as well as shorten the time to kill and reduce overall total deaths.

Asura is disabled during this event.

Botting Protection
It's about time! Right!? We are now fully protected against bots! NO MORE BOTTING! HA! Now what ?!

Future Functions
So I said we added things for later use. Among these things are:

• Weather Control Commands: Will have much more realistic time of day and weather soon!
  
• Dynamic BGM: Certain events and maps will be able to change the BGM on the fly!
  
• Super Identifier: New Premium Item coming soon! This will ID everything in your inventory! It's a rental. (The FIRST usable rental!)
  
• Death By Dice Premium Event map has been added and we will begin testing it over the next few days!
  
• Preparing to add Area 51. (Details upon release)
  
• New scripting functions to enable party events.
  
• New scripting functions to help with the new past features. Yes, we ARE still working on the past! It will be extremely awesome. I don't want to give away the surprise but it will be insanely fun.

New Update Troubleshooting
Do not update Sakray using Sakray.exe anymore, even if you do not have it updated! If you have Sakray wait for the new full client release.

Run your patcher. You may have to click start, close the client, then open the patcher again. If you still cannot connect download the "PaganRO for Ragray" client and install it over your existing installation.

If the client gives a windows error when you open it, add a DEP exception.

You know what would be great? If you implemented some of the MVP event 2 features into MVP event 1. And if you disabled Asura Strike. Seriously, Champs are whores and people who play them should be shot. Actually, champs aren't whores. That would be too insulting to the whores.

Or better yet, make the events more configurable by the ones who start it, for example, the ability to toggle if people can use Asura, to make it classic style, as in no trans classes, or if you're evil, to make all the MVPs super buffed, or to even disable skills entirely.

My reasons for saying this mostly include my experience starting an MVP event, then seeing over 9000 champs spamming over 9000 asura strikes, only to join again and asura over 9000 more times. It's rather frustrating to see something like that, and I likely will never start another MVP event again.

I can't login to RO since this new Update thing >_>.

I just login, click my character and it says Disconnect from Server.

On all characters. On my vending account, same thing.

On my friends account same thing. Is it just my computer or...?

I had the same problem, but I fixed it by updating kRO and kRO sakray.

i think the point that Anc hasn't done this is to point people in the direction of the MVP2 event that allows those people who dislike asura to buy the MVP2 event instead of the MVP1 event that is y it cost a bit more then the regular one and overtly creating more donations for the server =D just my 2 cent

You must run your patcher to get the update to be able to connect. If you don't you won't be able to connect to map server. The problem you are having means you did not update as instructed. Read the post again and do what it says.

Are you TRYING to break his install even more?

No, I'm not. But I had the same problem after patching Pagan. Then, I patched kRO and I didn't have the problem anymore. And sakray.exe didn't patch anything when I ran it, only Ragnarok_RE.exe

I'd like to know why the detail of buildings and floor's now missing too...

When I logged in this is what it looked like. My F-Keys were reset and my Job & Skill EXP bar were gone.

Fixed.
