Hey guys! Here's a quick start guide for you.

Starting Out
When you start your new character on PaganRO, there is an NPC in front of you. Talk to it and choose one of the three options, all of which are outlined below. Regardless of what option you have chosen, once in Rachel talk to the Job Master to change jobs.

Completely New
- Gives you 250 Magic Potions
- Gives you Stick, Tree Trunk, and Wooden Armor then equips them for you.
- Warps you into Training Grounds
New to PaganRO
- Tells you basic info about PaganRO
- Gives you 250 Magic Potions
- Gives you Stick, Tree Trunk, and Wooden Armor then equips them for you.
- Levels you to 12/10 and places all 9 skill points into Basic Skill
- Warps you to Rachel
Just a new character
- Gives you 250 Magic Potions
- Gives you Stick, Tree Trunk, and Wooden Armor then equips them for you.
- Levels you to 12/10 and places all 9 skill points into Basic Skill
- Warps you to Rachel

The Custom Starter Items
There are 4 custom items you start with. Stick, Tree Trunk, Wooden Armor and (250x)Magic Potion. Each of those is explained below.

Stick
- Gives 30-(BaseLevel/2) to all stats until level 50. The bonus is fixed at 5 after level 50.
- Gives 1300-(BaseLevel*25) more max HP. The bonus is fixed at 50 after level 50.
- Gives 800-(BaseLevel*15) more max SP. The bonus is fixed at 50 after level 50.
- Gives 55-BaseLevel more attack. The bonus is fixed at 5 after level 50.
- Gives 55-BaseLevel more defense ignoring attack. The bonus is fixed at 5 after level 50.
- Gives 25% more magic attack. The bonus is decreased to +15% magic attack after level 50.
- Gives 160-(BaseLevel*3) more flee. The bonus is fixed at 10 after level 50.
- Gives 160-(BaseLevel*3) more hit. The bonus is fixed at 10 after level 50.
- Reduces casting time by 10% until level 50. From level 50 and beyond casting time is not reduced.
- Triples HP/SP recovery until level 50. From level 50 and beyond HP/SP recovery is only doubled.
- Casts cannot be interrupted. (Like Phen Card, but without the cast time penalty)
Tree Trunk
- Gives BaseLevel/2 defense. The bonus is capped at 25 defense.
- Gives BaseLevel/4 magic defense. The bonus is capped at 12 magic defense.
- Stacks with Wooden Armor
Wooden Armor
- Gives BaseLevel/2 defense. The bonus is capped at 25 defense.
- Gives BaseLevel/4 magic defense. The bonus is capped at 12 magic defense.
- Stacks with Tree Trunk
Magic Potion
- Heals 500-600+ HP and 60-80+ SP.
- Cures poison, silence, blind, confusion, curse, hallucination, and orcish.

PM Commands
PaganRO does not use @commands like other servers. Instead, you PM the names 'Server', 'Kafra' or 'Stylist' to set options or preform actions. This might sound more annoying, but in the case of setting options the server remembers those options. Once you set them they will stay set forever, unless you change them. That means if you turn autoloot on, it will always be on for all of your characters.

Another reason for this is @commands are a bit more unnatural. Using the PM system also makes the commands more powerful, and restarting the server isn't required to make the PM system better. New commands can be added without a restart. This enables us to add temporary commands for events or to add new cheat codes without having to restart the server.

Server
I'm going to cover all the main options in this guide. The basics are simple. Type 'Server' into the PM box, and type 'help' into the message box, then press enter. You should see a long list of options, followed by some tips. Each option has more help. For example, you can do help#autoloot to get help with autoloot.

Autoloot
Autoloot is easy to set. If you just want to autoloot everything, PM Server 'autoloot#on'. This will enable autoloot and set it to loot everything. To turn it off you can just do 'autoloot#off'. To see what the current setting is just type 'autoloot'. To set to a specific rate, such as 50%, do 'autoloot#5000'. You can autoloot at 0.10% with 'autoloot#10'.

Changing What's Displayed At Login
The onlogin option allows you to display some somewhat useful information when you log in. You have two options to choose from. There is 'showuptime' and 'showlast'. The 'showuptime' option will tell you the servers up time when you log in, that is, how long the server has been up since the last restart. The 'showlast' option will tell you how long ago the last time you logged in was. This is useful to see if someone else is using your account without your knowledge, or just to let you know how long ago it was. To enable these do 'onlogin#showuptime#on' or 'onlogin#showlast#on'. Of course you can replace 'on' with 'off' to disable them. Giving no option will display the current setting.

Showing Gained Experience, Zeny, and Hiding Delay
The other options (showexp, showzeny and showdelay) work in a similar way. The 'showexp' and 'showzeny' options tell you how much experience or zeny you've gained when you get experience or zeny. The 'showdelay' option will show or hide skill failure due to delay depending on how it's set. You can enable them with 'showexp#on', 'showzeny#on' or 'showdelay#on'. Of course, replacing 'on' with 'off' will disable them. Giving no option will display the current setting.

Up Time and Online Time
The final options are 'uptime' and 'onlinetime', these only give information and are not settings. The 'uptime' option will tell you the servers current uptime. The 'onlinetime' option will tell you how long you have been logged in.

Hiding Tips
In addition to all of this, the Server will give you additional tips when you try different options. Once you feel adept at using this new system, PM 'help#hidehelp' to hide the additional tips that are displayed. You will still be able to use the help system, but the tips and notes (including the notice about how to use autoloot when you log in) will disappear. You can turn the tips back on with 'help#showhelp'.

Auto Trade
You can close your client while vending by using auto trade. This is quite useful, but costs 5000 zeny and can only be used in Prontera and Rachel. Just set up your shop, make sure you have at least 5000 zeny, then PM Server "autotrade#start". Doing simply "autotrade" will tell the cost, which is 5000 zeny.

Event Warping
During events, usually PMing server with "event" will take you to the event. Sometimes, during very hard events such as killing MVPs or event monsters, you can also use event#buff to receive buffs. If you are not on the map the event is taking place event#buff will warp you to the map before applying buffs.

Cheat Codes
There are some 'cheat codes' for PaganRO that will make leveling a bit easier. You PM cheat codes to 'Server', they are case sensitive. All our cheat codes are either cheat codes from other games, quotes from games or internet memes. The server started with only two cheat codes, "weaknesspays" and "you don't deserve it". These were to help new users that joined level and get zeny easier. The popularity of the cheat code system led to more cheat codes, and now there are 8 cheats in total. More codes are being added over time to increase the number of people that are told to read this guide. All the cheats are listed below with their effects as well as what the codes are a reference to.

weaknesspays - SimCity 4 - This will give you 2 magic potions and can be used over and over. Cheat has been disabled.
you don't deserve it - SimCity 4 - This will give you blessing and increase agility. It also can be used over and over again, however, the effects do not stack. Cheat has been disabled.
up up down down left right left right b a start - Almost every game ever written by Konami - This will give you 30 Magic Potions and can be used once every ten minutes. Using it more often than that will result in death.
THIS IS MADNESS! - A quote from the movie 300 and an internet meme - This will make warping free for your next warp. It can and must be reused after every warp.
all your base are belong to us - A quote from the game Zero Wing and an internet meme - This doubles the drop rate for 30 minutes. (Bubblegum)
up down left right a+start - A Sonic The Hedgehog cheat - This shows location of a boss monster on the mini map. (Convex Mirror)
nineinarow - A Grand Theft Auto cheat - This will make the Kafra PM warps cost nothing.

there is no spoon - A quote from The Matrix - Increases walking speed greatly for a few seconds. Usable once every 5 minutes. Cannot be used anywhere during the War of Emperium.

Kafra
This is one of the simpler PM system commands to use. Type 'Kafra' into the PM box, then type city#name_of_city. For example, you could type "city#prontera" to go to Prontera. This command costs 300 zeny to use. This command is expected to example to include dungeons. Warping to dungeons using this command will cost the same as they do on the Kafra in towns.

Stylist
This is one of the simpler PM system commands to use. Type 'Stylist' into the PM box, then type load#slot_id. For example, you could type "load#1" to load the first saved style. This command costs is free to use.

NPCs
PaganRO has many NPCs, most of which are common to other servers. Some, however, are unique to PaganRO or have a twist to them you'll only find here.

Job Master
The Job Master NPC will, as you might expect, change your job. You can change to any job using the Job Master. You start PaganRO essentially ready to change to your first class job. On PaganRO you can even change to a baby class without having any parents. When you change to a job you receive all the quest skills (aka, platinum skills) that job can get.

Kafra
Our Kafra is an all in one solution to many daily needs. It provides location saving, storage and warping. The Warp option will send you to towns or to most dungeons. Warping to towns is completely free while warping to dungeons generally costs. The cost varies but most dungeons are DungeonLevel*1000. A few dungeons commonly used to start playing in have the first level for free, these include Ant Hell, Clock Tower, Prontera Culvert and Payon Dungeon. Some places are cheaper if you do the quest first. Warping to the first floor Bio Labs is 3000 Zeny if you don't do the quest. If you do the quest the warp is free.

Stylist
Like any other stylist on any other private server, our stylist will change your hair style, hair color or clothing color. In addition to that, our stylist gives you 5 preset slots. This will let you save and easily load 5 styles per character.

Healer
Our healer is like any other healer. It costs to heal based on the amount needed to be healed. Our healer also gives you buffs for 5000 zeny. The Healer likes to play during the War of Emperium so she can't be around to heal you. In other words, the healer won't heal you while WoE is taking place.

Others
In addition to those, we also have a Rental NPC and a Reset NPC. They each do what you'd expect them to. We also, of course, have all the normal Ragnarok Online NPCs.
